Practical Upholstery and the cutting of loose covers by Frederick Palmer. First published in 1921 and now available through Herbert Press Ltd. ISBN no. 0 906969 48 4 price £11.95 but is currently out of print.
Upholstery - A Complete Course by David James. Published by the Guild of Master Craftsmen. Fist published in 1990 a very informative work which contains a great deal of history and excellent drawings. The book also covers the manufacturing side of upholstery but is currently out of print. Upholstery Techniqes and Projects by David James. Published by the Guild of Master Craftsmen, it contains lots of projects but is a bit light on the details of upholstery. The book is very useful for a person who has some knowledg of the subject. ISBN no. 0 946819 41 6 price £18.95
The Upholstery Pocket Reference Book by David James. Excellent reference source. ISBN no 0 946819 41 6 price £7.95
Upholstery - A Practical Guide by Desmond Garston. First published by Harper/Collins in 1982 is comprehensive written. ISBN no. 0 00 4129121 price £14.99
Learn Upholstery by Desmond Garston. Published by Harper/Collins forms an excellent book for beginners. In paperback form, it contains lots of colour drawings and illustrations. ISBN no. 0 00 412334 4 price £7.99
The Complete Upholsterer by Carole Thomerson. Published by Francis Lincoln Ltd in 1989. A lavishly illustrated paperback that deals with history, techniques and projects in detail. ISBN no. 0711210926 price £12.99
The Collins Complete Woodworkers Manual by Jackson/Day. For those planning to undertake extensive repairs to furnitur or who plan to make their own pieces, this book is invaluable. Care and Repair of Furniture by Jackson/Day. This was originally a BBC paperback - now out of print. It is available in hardback - considereable updated it could be considerd to be essential reading for anyone planning to restore woodword or furnitue. ISBN no. 0004127307 price £16.99
